            Why is this goal important?

            This measure is a regulatory requirement to ensure the flow of sewage to the Water Resource Recovery Facility does not exceed design parameters. The City is required to start expansion planning when the flow to the facility reaches 85% of its design capacity. The facility is currently designed to treat up to 6.9 million gallons of sewage per day.

            How is this goal measured?

            This measure is performed by using flow meters at the Water Resource Recovery Facility. The flow is continuously monitored and compiled throughout the month into a 30-day average flow rate. This flow is compared to the design parameter and a percentage of remaining capacity is calculated.

            What progress are we making towards this goal?

            Flow to the Water Resource Recovery Facility is a function of the condition of the infrastructure used to get the sewage to the treatment plant and growth within Carson City. The infrastructure is being continuously improved to minimize unwanted flow and the growth is being managed in accordance with the adopted growth management plan.
